Pas Ce Soir

As every evening, Madame gets ready in her office. She won't have time to go home. She lines her eyes with black eyeliner and enhances her lips with a deep red lipstick. She closes the building's door, and her heels click briskly in the street. Like every Thursday, she enjoys going to this cabaret on the Place de la Concorde. Madame is as enthusiastic as ever. Seated at the bar, she orders a whisky with ice and lights a cigarette. In the dim light, she notices a figure opposite her. She moves aside. It's always the same gentleman. They pass each other regularly without ever speaking. She smiles, gets up, and goes to dance alone. Men come and go, each trying to attract her attention. She always responds with her eyes. Madame is elegant; she communicates. But around two in the morning, when this dandy with a confident and mysterious air invites her to dance... She ends up whispering a few words in his ear... "Not tonight."
